JAKARTA, METRO – Indonesia’s Team for the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games Officially Formed

The Indonesian team for the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin was officially inaugurated by the President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), Raja Sapta Oktohari, at the NOC Indonesia office at FX Sudirman Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (January 30).

The participation of the two Indonesian teams is proof of the Red and White's existence in the winter sports multi-event. At the Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games, Indonesia will compete in three events across two disciplines within a single sport. The Indonesian team consists of three male athletes, three female athletes, and six people supporting the Chef de Mission (CdM) Headquarter team.

The President of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, emphasized the importance of Indonesia's participation in this event as part of the efforts to expand the presence of winter sports in the country. He appreciated the support from various parties that helped prepare the team, including from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the official sponsors of the Indonesian team.

"This will be a stepping stone, but there are other things that, God willing, will be interesting. Hopefully, there will be surprises from Harbin. According to Pierre de Coubertin, sports is not just about competition, but the most important thing is participation, and Indonesia is present, both in the Summer and Winter. We thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their support," said Raja Sapta Oktohari.

Okto continued, stating that his team will continue to encourage all members of the Indonesian Olympic Committee, both in Olympic disciplines and non-Olympic disciplines, to be well-supported and able to participate, whether in single or multi-events.

Meanwhile, the Chef de Mission (CdM) for Indonesia at the 2025 Asian Winter Games, Josephine Tampubolon, expressed her excitement and readiness to lead the Indonesian contingent at Asia's biggest winter sports multi-event. The team’s preparations have been carried out optimally, and she hopes the athletes will give their best for the Red and White.

"They will also leave earlier for acclimatization, and besides that, we are also preparing their apparel, which has been tailored for minus 20-40°C. Inside, we’ve prepared electric heater jackets so they don't need to wear ten layers of clothing but only three or four layers, as the jackets have heating inside," said Josephine.

"Similarly, the pants are made with thermal materials, so they are safe," she added.

The Deputy IV for Sports Achievement Improvement, Surono, also officially sent off the Indonesian team to the Asian Winter Games in Harbin 2025. He emphasized the importance of international competition experience for athletes as part of national sports development and hoped that the athletes would perform their best.

"Although it’s extremely cold, our athletes can adapt thanks to modern technology. Even in minus 18°C, they can still compete. With the training results and the guidance from the coaches, we hope they can give their best when it’s time to compete," said Surono, representing the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo.

The Harbin 2025 Asian Winter Games will take place from February 7 to 14, 2025. This will be Indonesia’s second time participating in the Asian Winter Games, following their debut in Sapporo 2017.
